Westart moderator Siham El-Maimouni talks to Susanne Titz and Felicia Rappe about the societal relevance of art museums along with “Institutional Critique – The Museum as a Site of Permanent Conference,” the exhibition project that opened on June 3, 2021.
In the context of “beuys 2021,” the exhibition and event program marking Joseph Beuys’s 100th birthday, Museum Abteiberg presents two exhibitions that establish a connection between the Beuys era and the present day. A new display space draws from the recent acquisition of the ANDERSCH COLLECTION/ARCHIVE while at the same time conveying the significance of archival work in the art of the 1960s and 1970s.
Simultaneously, a new site-specific project will continue the great Mönchengladbach tradition since Beuys’s first museum exhibition in 1967: The institution of the museum once again becomes a subject of artistic scrutiny in 2021 with a contribution by artist Ghislaine Leung (b. 1980).
Westart also dedicates a segment to the ANDERSCH COLLECTION/ARCHIVE, one of the most extensive Fluxus collections globally, acquired by the Museum Abteiberg in 2017.
Listeners can hear the radio program online at the WDR Mediathek until May 22, 2022.
