I just followed what artists did; that’s where I saw my part in it. Johannes Cladders, 2004
Johannes Cladders would have been 100 years old on September 14, 2024. He was director of the Städtisches Museum Mönchengladbach from 1967 to 1985 and the initiator and mastermind behind Museum Abteiberg, designed by Hans Hollein.
An online archive at www.museum-moenchengladbach-1967-1978.de shows the pioneering program on Bismarckstraße that made Cladders one of the most important museum directors in the world. With it, we commemorate a very passionate, communicative person to whom we owe a great deal.
